Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery requires additional years of hospital-based surgical and anesthesia training after graduation from dental school. As an Oral and Maxillofacial surgeons, Dr. Marre and Dr. Khandelwal manage a wide variety of problems relating to the mouth, teeth, and facial regions. Dr. Marre and Dr. Khandelwal practice a full scope of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery with expertise ranging from Dental Implant Placement and Wisdom Tooth Removal to Corrective Jaw Surgery. This also includes techniques designed to rebuild bone structure, (i.e., bone grafting) with minimal surgical intervention and optimal patient comfort.

First Visit

Your initial appointment will consist of a consultation explaining your diagnosis and treatment options. Occasionally, surgery can be performed the same day as the consultation. However, a complex medical history or treatment plan will require an evaluation and a second appointment to provide treatment on another day. Please assist us by providing the following information at the time of your consultation: IMPORTANT: All patient under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian to the consultation visit. A preoperative consultation and physical examination is mandatory for patients undergoing IV anesthesia for surgery.

Dental Implants

A natural tooth consists of a root and a crown. If you compare natural teeth to implant-supported replacement teeth, you'll see they have the same basic parts. Both have a crown (the visible part used to chew food). Both have a root that holds the tooth securely under the gum and is anchored into the jaw. The difference is that the implant is made of titanium – the same time-tested material used by surgeons for artificial joints. When you lose a tooth, you lose both the root and the crown.
